Rico Fire Protection District

The Rico Fire Protection District (RFPD) was formed in 1992 as a Colorado Special District, incorporating Rico Hose Co. #1, Rico Ambulance, as well as Search and Rescue operations for eastern Dolores County (operating under the Dolores County Sheriff). RFPD encompasses the Town of Rico and the Sundial PUD as well as some unincorporated county land near the Town.

RFPD serves as the administrative arm for the operation of the Rico Fire Department. The RFPD board consists of five members who must be registered voters and reside within the boundaries of the Fire District. Elections to the board are held in May of even-numbered years. RFPD Board members represent the taxpayers of the District and are responsible for determining how Fire District revenues are spent. Let them know your questions or concerns – and be sure to thank them for their service to the community.
